Who needs to go to Vegas, when you can go to Watkins Road and gamble all you want. How is this possible? Surely if I know about it, our great Sheriff Dept. knows. It's not who you know, but who you blow I guess? Anyone else know about the "Shore Towers"

You know diggin up Id bet you lost some money out there and this makes you no less that belly aching snitch. People talk about less government intervention in their lives then you go invite them in. You cant be a Republican.

I would say losing money is not the issue. That would be gambling which is prohibited by state law.

Grams, I agree with you to an extent but gamblin will always exist, i just find it funny when someone just comes out and puts it out there. Makes me wonder about the motive.

I certainly understand your point of view and your critique, but NO i have never once visited this place or one like it for that matter. I can see that using this forum to inform may be a mistake. Pardon me for inviting the Gov. into it Newday, do Republicans get a pass or something when it comes to breaking the law. As for u miss b haven, I get my blows at home. U can catch stuff just letting anyone blow u. You've got to be smarter than that! Well, judging from your remark, maybe not!

The fact that gambling exists does not mean that it is ok. It is breaking the law and the offenders should be arrested.

Isn't this the place sheriff cain owns. If cain does it, it isn,t illegal. I heard rumors in town that this was true???

These gambling machines are all over town in country stores and the internet place across from Hardee's. They are not illegal. You people make it sound like there is a Cherokee gambling setup going on there. When they are all over the county and statewide.

yep country bumpkin, finally somebody who understands how they work. That they are not illegal. The guy that started the original comment (Diggin'upbones) seems to know a lot about the setup at "Shore Towers" to have never been there. Sounds like he's a little jealous of this guy. He even made a comment about everybody in this town telling everybody's business. When he's the one telling this guy's business!! How ironic! He needs to get a life.

Also the comment "White American" makes about Cain owning this place, that is laughable!! I know for a fact he does not.

N.C. House is moving ahead on sweepstakes ban ------------------------------ The Associated Press
Published: July 6, 2010
RALEIGH
The House is moving forward on a bill that would clarify that computer-based sweepstakes games sprouting up at hundreds of new Internet cafes and business centers in North Carolina are illegal.
House Speaker Joe Hackney said Tuesday he expected a measure overwhelmingly approved by the Senate last month would be taken up on the floor if a committee gives the OK.
After a meeting with House Democrats, Hackney said he thinks there will be enough votes on the floor to support a sweepstakes ban.
Customers at the new cafes buy Internet time, then play games to win cash and prizes. People who want to outlaw the games say they are an end-run around the state's 2006 video poker ban.
Lawmakers are trying to adjourn for the year this week

Don't forget that Judge Craig declared the 'business centers' to be legal.
You don't think he and Cain are in cahoots, do ya?

You're right new jail and the attorney general and assistant have been pissed about this since it happened. I don't think Craig can overrule the state legislature though if they pass this. It looks to me like very soon this internet gambling will also be illegal and it should be. Too many people have jeopardized their families' security doing this crap.

What?, a stupid law will keep this from happening? Lets allow Big Brother to put cameras in our basements and storage buildings so they can monitor our gambling habits. You have nothing to hide do you? No basement poker games? No storage building wagers? Incredible!

I have nothing to hide but if I did it doesn't have anything to do with internet gambling that so easily destroys families' financial security. This is a far cry from guys having an occasional poker game in someone's home. I am not in favor of that either and do not participate because it can bust up friendships.

Stokes, ok or not, people are always going to gamble, it is a personal choice. It is a hobby or entertainment to some, you can't pass judgement on gambling being right or wrong. If you choose not to do it, that is your business. If a poker game bust up friendships, you weren't really good friends to begin with.

Is it legal to have these machines in your private residence. If thats the case I believe I will get me a few and make some of that big money, while the poor are still losing their homes because of them and the income is not reported to the IRS.
