I use to have the highest respect for Sheriff Cain. After being on the inside and having to deal with David Matthews on a daily basis (cussing,belittling,lies,talks about his dispatchers..never a kind word or any kind of encouragement) I have lost all respect for the Sheriff allowing this to continue. I have always thought that if Sheriff Cain lost an election David would play a big role in it.Hopefully if we get a new sheriff he will be able to find someone with personell experience. Someone who will encourage their employees. Someone who knows how to deal with people in a respectful maner. Someone who takes all the problems serious and address the issues in a professional way.

Olnick...1st of all when I left the 2nd time I was done.Period!!! At no time did I approach Sheriff Cain about bringing me back. You are welcome to ask him. Secondly I never told anyone I was going to whip their @$$. I said "I am so mad at you I COULD whip your @$$". Big difference. At any rate our issues have been settled and our friendship continues. You are 1 of the East Bend good ole boys who spent some time in dispatch lapping up to David, who is also a cop wannabe. At least you are going about it the right way! Maybe David will share his car til you earn your own!

he also picks up his kids from school daily in hte county car. once in a while would be ok, but to take time from work without taking vacation during that 30-45 minutes on a daily basis and drive a county car, with county insurance, and county gas everyday is stealing from the county. not to mention the libility that carrying his kids around causes for the county. i will bet he might change his ways now for next school year since I called him out on that crap.

Very interesting. I hope that gets out into the media and be aware of wasteful tax dollars being spent on Cain's Family and Friends. How does that help me and my family that he is picking up his kids? I had to ride the bus when I went to school his kids should not be any different than me.

Willie...calm down....I was agreeing that I had saw the state tags, It was not a question. I was making a statement that the car does have state tags, that's all. Also, I have no problem if Cain has family working for him, anyone in that position would probably do the same. However, what I would question is his family and/or others that drive county cars as they would their own personal cars. That point is what is in question.

rider, his boss doesn't care. However didn't the computer guy get fired or was forced to resign for using a county car for personal stuff just last year?? Matthews is a county employee. Everyone in the sheriff's dept is a county employee except Cain and even his salary is funded by the taxpayers. Maybe the computer guy needs to make a complaint. It has always been this way in our county. Depends on who your dept head is as to what rules you have to follow.

Country - David only has 1 kid, don't know about taking him to school or not, have not seen that. I do know he gets called out at all hours by the communications staff since he is over that department for various things. There may be a valid explaination as to why he drives that car, I don't know.

running fire calls,, or fire meetings that are not specifically addressing problems with communicaitons on duty or off duty, picking up kids from school, or anything not specifially for the communications department in the county car is misuse of county property. simply driving the county car to the normal run of the mill fire meetings is not policy.

the car is not a patrol car. yes it is a county car but its the car he is required to drive everyday. and no a bus does not go by his house. yes it has lights but they are strobes. not blue lights like you think. when it has something to do with county business he drives it. between where he lives to the sheriffs dept is forbush high. so why not drop his kid off

Asaault, I can apprieicate you taking up for your supervisor, friend, and co-worker. I will tell you why he shouldnt drop off his kids. The Matthews kids are not covered under the countys insurance policies. If an accident happens, and the kids were injured, the county would be liable. Its a huge risk Matthews is taking, and placing on the county simply for his convience. Can we afford a multi-million dollar lawsuit? Should we avoid problems before they occur? Knowing this is happening, and allowing it to continue to happen is putting the county at risk.

No. My point is this. You ramble on and on about this. What are you as a tax payer going to do. Sit on your Ass and complain on the computer or stand up for what you believe is right? What I was saying is: Keep in mind that if he has a child, Which appearently he does, you should really take a more direct approach, Do you want to ruin another child's life by dragging their dad through the mud? Have you ever asked this Matthews guy about his responsibilities? Chances are you have not. I'll be honest with you. I pay my Taxes and get very little if anything for it, except that I know the Fire Dept. is always there to help me if needed. I see those guys up there all the time training or on standby. I do know that EB is one of the only All volunteer Stations in the county and that they worked hard to get an ISO rating that saves EB tax payers on their taxes. That says alot about those guys. One of my friends told me the guy was a Chief officer there. Do you know if that is true?

Man! You folks are fired up!! Hey Heelsfan? I know this guy, so I will give you some facts that people will not acknowledge. You make some good points. I believe to that if you believe in something you should stand up and fight for it. Your Dad or whomever was spot on! I understand what you are saying dude. I volunteer as a FF and do Medical, so thanks for your support there. Please know that your tax dollar is brought up all the time at the station. Positive for the Taxpayers, what can we do to save the taxpayer? that is a constent conversation. If the community knew how much we actually did behind the scene to save them, they would be amazed. Want to guess who is in the middle of that fighting for the Tax payers of EB? David Matthews! Along with alot of other good folks. So he Volunteers his time to his community, He is active in working with the Shooting team helping to work with Young people, and he is active in working every Charity event that we as a station have. I personally think that offsets the cost of the "old" car he drives. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. God Bless each of you.

If as you say he does these things, he is to be commended for all the charity work he does.
If he is driving a county car for personal business, that is wrong. You stated his charity work should offset him using a county car for personal use. If it is illegal to drive a county vehicle for private use, he is breaking the law. If one person can break the law, then why can't everyone get by breaking the law.

Dropping kids off at school and running fire calls while working or not working, or any other hobby or event not in working hours is not county policy. He is a communications supervisor, and that job does not require driving a county owned car to a volunteer fire calls. The car is for use to and from the office, or meetings regarding the communications center, on or off the clock, and thats it.

Nope, I know he told his lawyer, and everyone else he had to help with the shooting team, so he left Friday at 11:00 am. Then later, we found out that the shooting team did not shoot until Monday !!! So, there was plently of time. Leaving 2-3 hours later would not have made any difference.

Well, you just got to know David, He hasn't been out of Yadkin much. Last time he went out He told his Family He was going to the Mountains, He programed his GPS he mistankenly put 421 east instead of west, wound up on the coast.Jill tells him which way to go on that GPS ,, hahaha,,,,

Cains people all had a campaign meeting last night on Corneilus Road. The Campaign Manager and employee, Teresa Odell laid out an outline of the campaign stratagey to re-elect Cain. Tim Groce, a current employee and former employee Bill Comer also had imput. Of course Ronnie Ball was there and the, the Doubs, Smiths and Myers were there to. Sheriff Mike Cain himself said that he was going to run a smear campaign, plus release personel records of Royall and one of his supporters who is also a law enforcement officer, and any other officers if he finds out they are supporting Royall. I guess he will have to release a bunch of records from his own employess then? He said he can do that now with the new law that goes into effect October 1. The new law helps Sheriff Cain legally release the things he has been illegally releasing anyway. Sheriff Cain has already said that he would do anything it takes to get re-elected, but we all know that already dont we? The thing is, who knows what is in anyones personel file legitimately, especially in Yadkin County? Sheriff Cain is well known to be dishonest, so why should anyone believe anything he says or his right hand man David Matthews says?

Getting a new deputy
Mike Cain local sheriff was looking for a deputy, so David - who was not exactly the sharpest nail in the bucket went in to try out for the job.
"Okay," the sheriff drawled, "David, what is 1 and 1?"
"11" he replied.
The sheriff thought to himself, "That's not what I meant, but he's right."
"What two days of the week start with the letter 'T'?"
"Today and tomorrow."
He was again surprised that David supplied a correct answer that he had never thought of himself.
"Now David, listen carefully: Who killed Abraham Lincoln?"
David looked a little surprised himself, then thought really hard for a minute and finally admitted, "I don't know."
"Well, why don't you go home and work on that one for a while?"
So, David wandered over to the pool hall where his pals were waiting to hear the results of the interview. David was exultant.
"It went great! First day on the job and I'm already working on a murder case!"

cain would disguise anything he did to be on the up and up i am sure of that but everyone knows everything he does in on the low and low. if the law allows cain to expose everything, then someone needs to ask for cains personel file. i heard theres a lot of stuff his file from when he worked for sheriff henderson about working with his dog business on county time while he was suppossed to be patroling.
