I do my best not to. I take every tax break I can get. If it gets my taxable income down to zero, that is fine with me. They still get plenty from me in other taxes.
What we need is a national sales tax so this question wouldn't be an issue. People like drug dealers, prostitutes, etc. who don't currently pay any income tax would be paying in just like the rest of us.

I support a tax at the cash register. If you pay the same as the next guy and have no choice in the matter then the playing field is level and fair. If you manage to accumulate money then you have either saved money or you have provided a service or manufactured something from nothing. All of which helps the economy. So I favor the tax at the register mainly because when the tax gets too high then people stop buying the product and then the unfair tax gets adjusted. You vote essentially with your dollars and those votes always count and this way the markets are truly free. It is against the law to evade taxes it is legal to seek deductions but our tax code has surpassed anything that makes any kind of good sense and it too complicated and ridiculous in volume.

I don't owe any back taxes, but I know people who do. In a lot of cases, it's not about them being a POS, it's about hard times.

Mandm, have you ever thought that the late taxes just might be the fault of your hero Mike Cain? Dirty politics is the only thing that your hero is well known for, or will be remembered for. ( Other than a big red mustache ) If the truth is known, there are probably many more late taxes that Mike Cain is totally responsible for. Its nice to know that Cain folks are researching property owned by the challengers family, and friends. Thanks, and please keep us informed if you run across anything else.

Man, and they all currently have jobs at the Sheriffs Department. They all work for their hero, father, and father-in-law Mike Cain !!! All of them have county cars too !!! Guess theres no need to pay their taxes since the tax payers foot the bill for all their transportation.

From what I gather, the taxes owed by Heather Cain Shew, Justin Shew, and David Winfield Matthews are unpaid vehicle taxes. I guess unpaid taxes by Sheriffs Department employees is not as bad as unpaid taxes by private citizens. Oh, I guess I forgot thats another perk of being a Mike Cain puppet. Dont do as I do, do as I say? Mike Cains family, and employees owing back taxes, whats this world coming too? I guess we need to look at each employee dont we? Stay tuned!

Thanks for that info. johndeere Poor David doesn't have as many vehicles as Justin does. What in hell's name does Justin need with 10 vehicles? Am I reading that right he has 10 vehicles? I'm assuming if he didn't have all these vehicles anymore then it wouldn't still say open?

Either that, or until they were paid would be my guess.....but the lesson here is for others......."Clean up your own backyard, before you start trying to clean someone else's." and you are welcome.

There are lots of reasons taxes get listed as deliquent and some of them due to mistakes and business transactions. A real estate deal once caused mine to get listed because the agent trusted the buyer would pay as was per the contract the next years taxes. Sometimes notices dont get sent or dont go to the right address or arent billed properly due to property transfer. Now when someone owes amounts that are in excess of normal then there is a definite demonstated problem. Taxes are just that taxes and sometimes it not clear who is to pay on certain properties and more times than not some fault for it lies at the tax office. Goverment employees and their procedures dont often comply with common sense.

I happened to look up my ex husband's name and it showed two vehicles that were not paid. I know for a fact on one of those it was paid and then the vehicle was sold to 21 Motors and the license plates were turned in and the paper you get from the plate agency was turned in to the tax collector. But it still shows open. However, the other vehicle shows not paid around the time we split up so therefore I don't know what happened to the vehicle. There should be more information on these records stating if vehicle has been sold, etc.
