Jeff had a great lawyer in Ed Powell and a lot of supporters at the court house, Mathews made an exit at high noon and headed for the practice range to shoot it out with his next victim. Jeff hold your head high and standby for the November landslide. Oh by the way I went by the court house for a short time at lunch and saw Mr Unifi walking around with his tweedy bird legs showing. I guess he was there to support gun toting Sam.

Apparently, Royall has not been shy about the potential for the residency challenge. I'm pretty sure he addressed that on this site long ago. My question is, why did Cain/Matthews not bring this issue to the Board of Elections' attention when they knew Royall was getting petitions signed. They could have had that question answered then. Instead, they asked the Board of Elections to embarrass themselves by declaring that they failed to do their job earlier....

Well if Matthews lawyer would of done his job the outcome WOULD of been diffrent, if he would of done a little more investigating, the right people that knows Jeff and his family knows that he HAS BEEN living in surry county for quit sometime.SO Jeff how does it feel to stand in a court of law and LIE, he has so mant people fooled!!!! Shame on you Jeff to place your hand on the bible and LIE, Yadkin county u asked for it...

nofair, get over yourself, you Cain people would have attacked hard if Royall lost, and we expect you to attack hard because Royall won. Yes Royall admitted to living in Elkin at his wifes house she had prior to marriage. He admitted he bought his place in Yadkin, moved in, and "temporarily" moved back while remodeling was going on. There is nothing for you to keep harping about. If there was something there your attorney would have found it. Thats the reason paperwork from 2006-2010 was asked for, so the attorney could find all their was to find. Guess what, she did find it all, and what was found is the reason Royall won. The other reason is that so many witnesses testified for Royall. Your attorney cross examined some of them, that was done to find evidence. There were no witnesses from your side. Your attorney can not produce witnesses that does not exist, evidence that does not exist, or perform miracles. I am sorry the hearing busted your bubble, thats only the first bubble, if you think this one is bad, wait to your bubble gets busted in November.

You guys cant blame Mike and his folks for taking up the Residency Challenge. Jeff was in and out of the county doing his business and it seemed a fair question to ask--- we are talking about someones job here. Youre going to try and protect your job. The Residency Challenge is over. Its time to focus on the November election. What has been done and what will be said and done between now and November will make the call. The playing field is just a little more level so may the best man win!!!

Good post Newday! Its over, the Board of Elections made their decision based on the evidence provided, and Royall prevailed. The Board decided to let the people decide in November, plain and simple. Let's look forward to November and not dwell on the past. Way to go Jeff!

newday its not the challenge by itself, its the history of mike cain as a whole, and what type of person he really is. mike cain is to blame for many problems including the jail. he intentionally mislead commissioners, and citizens over the jail shutting down all in an attempt to manipulate the system, and get the jail built on hoots road. thats what the problem is, he always tries underhanded stuff to get what he wants done, thats the only way he knows to get anything done. yes the election is in november and hopefully it will be a day of reckoning for mike cain.

nofair could not have been at the hearing, you can tell that by calling matthews attorney a male. nofair did not hear or see any proof from either side. matthews attorney provided proof that royall was eligible. nofair was not there, nofair does not know what he is talking about.

Now we need to get the voters out in Nov. Once the election is over our job is not oevr. We need to support the Man once he is in office.The more we sopport him the better a Sheriff he will be.The Sheriff and his Deputys cant be everywhere, they will still need our eyes and ears to make him more effetive as they go through their daily duties. So lets get him elected and then help him be the best Sheriff we have had in years...Thats my 2 cents worth.

Now you have changed your story? You meant if Matthews had done his job right? Like I said, when there is NO evidence, and NO witnesses, and NO law, Matthews nor any attorney can perform miracles. Its just what ever suits your bottom crawling comments best right? You also said you honestly dont care who wins the election, but yet you get on here and trash Royall? nofair, Matthews' lawyer did the best she could with what she had. That piece of $#!+ Matthews refused to testify - why do you suppose that was? I suspect it is because you are sworn to tell the truth and he didn't want to be cross examined by Ed Powell, one of the best attorneys in the business. Furthermore he left before 11 AM - had something else he had to do - how compelling is that? He created this debacle and all the other folks that had to show up Friday had jobs and family but they rearranged their normal day FOR DAVID MATTHEWS AND HE REFUSED TO REARRANGE HIS!!!! Had there been any witnesses that he could have gotten, I am sure his lawyer would have gotten them but they had no case. It is pretty telling when Jack Shore votes against his own family member. Who in the hell would testify for a prick that won't testify for himself?

i was glad to see mr.shore and mr. wiseman do the right thing without political pressure. the documented evidence was 95% royall and 5% cain. the biggest majority of the items matthews asked for only benefited royall, and royall knew it would. matthews tried to find evidence they didnt know about to help them all the way back to 2006. instead, matthews requests for proof only helped uncover more real evidence to help royall win. what was there for any lawyer to work with to help cain? i will tell you what.......nothing! i am glad all the people were there, and all the reporters. all the witnesses help keep everyone honest i think.

Those of you who are upset about David Matthews leaving for his convenience while the rest of you sacrificed your day, don't forget that the puppetmaster Sheriff Mike Cain did not bother to show at all.
What a disgrace both of these men are for Yadkin County.
